Places to eat/shop

I much rather shop off-post for clothing then on-post.

For clothing
(almost anytime the name of the store is letters, it seems you can't go wrong) Example: NKD, C&A, H&M, K&L.

H&M has a little higher end (Think Kohls or Macy's), but has great sale racks.
C&A and K&L have a little less expensive but cute options.
NKD has great prices and sales, and also has a conglomeration of other household goods. (But not a HUGE selection). They have the best prices for Dirndls and Lederhosen around Octoberfest time. Especially when you use a VAT form.

For shoes:
Deichmanns is fabulous! And most german shoes are naturally a little wider than american shoes, which works great for us out there who want cute heels that fit a little more comfortably (I've probably quadrupled my shoe collection since moving here :) ha ha

For Jewelery:
Brigette Bijou: I LOVE LOVE LOVE this store! So many cute options, and at Claire's prices.

All of these stores can be found in Amberg (in the pedestrian old town), and in most larger towns.

Great place to eat near Vilseck = ZUR POST

(about 8 minutes from Rose Barracks)

Parking can be tricky in this tiny little town, but we love everything we have eaten there. The garlic soup, spatzel and meat, YUM!!!
