As you will learn - Poland is one of my favorite places to go!! I have quite the
pottery collection after 6 trips or so - I don't even need a map to get to my
favorite stores. That being said...I do have a map and know the best places to
stay!
The two places that I love are the Elim Monastery and the Gaspoda
Gasthaus.
1) http://elimcenter.pl/
This is an old converted monastery
that has dorm-like rooms and apartment-like rooms that you can stay in. There is
just a "suggested" donation. It is in a great location - just 15 minutes south
of Boleslawiec. The head groundskeeper guy is from Australia and everyone there
bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. It's really great if you are taking
your family as it has a playground and some animals to visit. Very kid friendly.
2) http://www.kruszyna.com.pl/rezerwacja.php When I stayed at Gaspoda,
in April, it was 27 Euro for a two twin bed room with an ensuite bath. They have
a big lit parking lot and it's very clean and nicely decorated.
I will
try to get my maps scanned to upload or email for anyone who would like them.
I have found that it's best to shop Mon-Thurs. As Friday through the
weekend is filled with buses and tours. I hate fighting the numbers and love
having a better selection of pottery that I get on the other days.
If you
have any questions or would like further details about buying pottery - or would
like a first person tour guide (-; please let me know!
Have fun and happy
shopping!!! Christina DuWors
